Just a note to the list about the M1 carbine (for those who are not
intimately familiar with that weapon's function. Removing the bolt to
deactivate it is not an absolutely sure way to put it out of commission, as
you can insert a bolt without dismantling the gun. Removing the hammer
spring, and tying the hammer down with some safety wire is a more secure
method of rendering the gun harmless for public display, and also allows you
to demonstrate safely clearing the weapon to the public (something worth
taking the time to do IMHO) without worrying about actually charging it.
