WW2 Blue Drab Registration #s

         Got a question: for vehicles that were early enough to have the
registration # done in blue drab, did they ever make it to France in '44
still having the blue drab? or was it automatically painted over with flat
white? Basically has anyone seen any photos of blue drab numbers in the ETO?
