Re: The Indian
A trusted, experienced restorer went to look at the motorcycle
today, and had much to say about it. First, the owner of the bike did not
know that the auctioneer put it in the sale. Second, the bike is not a
1917. It is a 1919- case numbers begin with 86M, which is 1919. The
restoration is an older one, and it needs lots of pieces re-nickeled. His
impression is that the bike will not meet the reserve of $20,000 which the
lady set for the auction, which she has not actually consented to. So if
you go, just be aware of the circumstances. The power plus is a nice
motorcycle, but I'd rather have a newer one myself.
