Oh For Chrissakes Richard, give it a rest. You are undoubtedly a great human
being who is doing the world a great service by starting a complementary
list and trumpeting it's merits on this list. However you are using a format
(Yahoo) not available 3 years ago. Arthur is using his own servers for a
hobby he doesn't give a rats ass about. He did it as a favor for a friend
all those years ago and has seen fit to not boot the lot of us into
cyberspace. You do it for your reasons, Jim does it for his and Arthur does
it for his. The bottom line is if it weren't for Arthur's list, you and Jim
and others would be shouting in a vacuum. I don't know whether or not you
contributed when Arthur asked for help, but I know I and others did. If you
want to add something constructive, you and your list members and Jim and
his WWII list members are welcome. But if your going to come here and take
cheap shots at Arthur and his list and think your going to do it unscathed,
well think again.
And the same goes even double for the vendors who operate here and use
Arthur's list to advertise their wares. Of late several relatively new to
the list vendors have made comments about how "poorly the list is run".
Tough Shit. This isn't the only place for you to advertise your wares, but
the price you pay is right. No annoying banners, no obtrusive personal info
gathering to get on the list or "group". And no self appointed moderator.
No "You either kiss my bum or your history" demagogues on this list. No
"Play my way or I won't let you into MY little club." Just a free wheeling,
self-policing forum to exchange info, comments ,ideas and camaraderie. The
internet in it's purest form.
If I sound like a Dick head, ( no pun intended, Richard) so be it. I do
take off my hat when I urinate. And because I have just completed my Federal
and state tax returns (do to a bizarre state holiday, we get an extra day to
hold on to our money) I am not a happy camper. The only up side is that I
got to buy for pennies on the dollar a truck that my jack ass neighbors
helped purchase and now I can annoy them to no end by starting it at 0600 on
weekends as I head out to cruise the Interstate Defense Highway System
(which they also helped pay for) at $2 a gallon. Which, if I so desire,
means at least 1500 miles in most directions before we drop into the water.
I now turn over my soap box to the next lister...
Ron, the incorrigible
