Dear Listers........
<<On the transmission tunnel cover, an "L"-shaped bracket has been bolted to
the cover. and attached to it is a piece of steel tubing, approx 1 1/4"
diameter and 6" long. has anyone got any ideas as to what it is for? >>
Has anyone any ideas??? What a stupid question !!! I've been inundated with
explanations (or more accurately, AN explanation). Everyone says that it is a
locking device...... the tube pivots at the bracket and the gearlever is
retained in the slotted end of the tube by a lock. Not exactly "by the book"
(and there IS a book on vehicle security).... but then, the USMC does tend
to do it's own thing. Just wish they would leave a paper-trail for us
historians to follow, that's all !
Thanks again to the Listers for their unstinting contributions....... very
much appreciated.
kind regards..
Ken
