It seems from the data to hand that early marks could manage a round trip
loaded sortie of 2,000 miles and later ones up to 3,000 miles.
Out of interest some models were fitted with an auto-loading 6pdr (goodness
knows what calibre but something like 65mm) anti-tank gun firing at a rate
of about 80rpm which did make it shudder a bit, hitting such a small target
as a tank was very difficult but used in an anti-shipping role it was quite
effective.
On the theme of things being made by odd firms, the very specialised auto
loading mechanism was made by a cigarette vending machine company.
