Hi Randy,
I have 2 ideas:
Make VERY sure of the bolt length on the water pump. A mistake here will
dimple your cylinder wall. My husband used studs instead of bolts and it
works very well.
Did you notice the water distribution tube? It runs along the PS of the
engine. It is a long tube with slots in the top--it acts like a sprinkler
inside to insure that water gets to the back cylinders. If these slots are
plugged, there won't be any water getting to the rear cylinders, and they
will run hot. You must pull the radiator and use a tool to remove it, unless
you are very lucky and yours just pulls out. Now would be a good time to
inspect it. Sorry to make more work for you, but it is really important.
Other listers can confirm this.
I had to make a tool to remove ours. A slide hammer affair. Still very
diffucult.
Good luck,
Lisa
