That truck looks like a standard M35 (not an A1 or an A2) to me. It isn't
even a diesel. This fits with the timeframe nicely. It has the headlights
mounted low, too, which indicates an early production truck. A five ton
truck would have 8 lug wheels, a longer hood, and a different looking grill.
It is really easy to get the rear axles pushed that far out of center just
by driving over a bump sideways. The rear axle is pushed in the opposite
direction, which is why you can't see it.
This IS an unusual angle to view the truck at, though.
