What the hey?? One US gallon (liquid) equals 3.785 liters (litres). The
beauty of the metric system is that a liter is a liter is a liter, the
world 'round. So WHY would you Aussies use FIVE liters to equal one US
gallon?
The currency exchange rate as of last Friday was one US dollar = 1.9305
Australian dollars. So, your 96.6 cents per liter equals 50.05+ cents US
per liter, or $1.89+ US per US gallon. That's a bit more than it is in
my area today, but not as much as it was in many areas of this country
as recently as two weeks ago.
