getting paint off tires

I didn't think this was a secret, as it was once published almost monthly in car magazines. Methylene chloride (Zip-Strip) and a Scotchbrite pad will clean paint from tires without harm. Naturally, you do this outdoors. Not many people have indoor tires anyway, so that's probably a useless caveat. Some years ago, it was common knowledge that if you had a car body tank-dipped in said chemical, the treatment actually improved and rejuvenated the rubber parts left on the body. If you had old copies of Car Craft or Hotrod from the 60's and 70's, you would not have much trouble finding this.

Jack, wondering how many liters of methylene chloride you need to clean six meters of tread?
