I think the Sgt has taken a section of his regulations out of context.
Ask him to give you a copy of the regulations. AR or NGR. Ask him to
also give you a letter from his Command Unit. In my opinion, you will
not hear comments from him again.

There are too many individuals loose in the military that are more like a
loose cannon, then a normal trooper.

Just look around you. Watch any parade, on any holiday. Look at the
top brass that are present as spectators & participants.

In the past, I have driven an M38A1, owned by a friend, to attend a
Retirees Picnic at West Point Military Academy. It was fully dressed out
with bumper numbers & unit markings.

I will admit that I was stopped by the MPs on the gate. They asked
questions about the year & cost of renovation & really enjoyed the
vehicle. The same reaction by all ranks at the PX / Commissary complex.
If a General & many Colonel's had no problems, why should a National
Guard Sgt.

If you were to copy an existing unit's markings with a current vehicle,
then you would be out of line. Historic vehicles are not a problem.

I served Regular Army 1951 - 1954, 30 yrs NJ National Guard 1954 -
1984 & 10 yrs Army Reserve 1984 - 1994.
Now after 43 years, they will not let me play any more. I took my
retirement check & bought an 1952 M38A!. When it is finished, it will
carry markings from my old SCARWAF unit. I look forward to taking my
own M38A1 to the West Point Picnic.
