Sorry to take so long to post more on the RAL/Wehrmacht color
discussion. We just finished painting the Hetzer tonight! Hope to have it
on my Swap meet spot at the Ft. Lee convention. It's painted just like it
was in late 1945!
I don't have time to answer the questions posed on the list right now.
Have to get packed for the convention and will be gone there for the next
week. I will post answers to your questions when I return.
The book that I recommend is "Wehrmacht Heer camouflage colors
1939-1945" by Tomas Chory, translater from Czeck by Charles Kilment. It is
the best work on the subject. Complete with actual paint color chips.
R.A.L. stands for Reichsausschub fur Lieferbedingungen und
Gutesicherung. Loosely translated as "Reich's Institute for Quality Control".
I'll go into more detail about colors, paint chips, mixing and where
to get these paints, how to paint a Hetzer and such after the convention
next week.
