Start with the obvious first even if you think it might be right double
check because sometimes what you think is right or what you think you have
done is right isn't for what ever reason. We are only human.
1-are the batteries connected in series or parrallel?
2-are they positve ground or negative?
3-are all terminals and wires clean connections?
4-do you have good grounds?(one way to check this is to use jumper cables to
double up on some connections to check. For example if you aren't sure of the
starter grounding properly then run a jumper from the battery ground
directly to the starter case.Make sure you are grounding off the right
battery. If this works and it doesnt with the cable off then you need to add
a cable or clean the grounds for better connections)
5-are the batteries properly charged up?( I just went thru this with a guy
last night. He said his battery was good.but his CJ wouldn't turn over so I
pulled the starter and had it checked. It turned out OK.When I put it back in
I pulled his battery out and hucked it,he didn't like that.I took the
battery out of his car and stuffed it in.Jeep fired up.He stood there
looking stupid. His problem? He was to cheap to buy a new battery and used
them until they were completely fried.Waste of mine and everyone else's time
on his stupidity.)Don't take this the wrong way but even I have thought
batteries were charged at full and one time I found out I had a faulty
charger.that was a hair pulling experience.
6-worst case senario is to start with just one circuit at a time.Disconnect
all the others thru the fuses or the main line to the batteries.Hook up just
the starter and then as each circuit is ok'd add to it.this is a systematic
approach slow but accurate and simple.
