Hi, y'all. I need the lower alternator bracket for my M561 Gama Goat.
It's a bracket that bolts onto the side of the engine block with three
capscrews, and then the alternator pivots on the [missing] bracket to
adjust the belt tension. I think I already have the correct upper
bracket. I think this is the last part that I need to get my Gama Goat
minimally road worthy. I hope I can avoid needing to make a
replacement bracket myself.
I tried Riv-Rad already, with no luck on that part (though I did get
most of the other parts I needed, and some that I didn't need! :-).
NOS or take-off is fine, as long as it's in good physical condition. I
wonder if there are any other military vehicles which use the Detroit
Diesel 3-53, and thus might use the same alternator bracket?
I could also use a new horn for my Goat. I would prefer a NOS one. I
already have the cage that goes around the horn. Yes, this should be a
road-worthiness item, too, but I could always limp along with a
cannister-type air horn in a pinch. The alternator bracket is a lot
more important, because there's no cooling fan drive without an
alternator to keep the belts tight. At least the water pump has its
own belt system, so I was able to drive the Goat far enough to get it
from the unloading point to where it's temporarily parked.
Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
