M-151A2 problem - engine/electrical

Ok, I'm at my very first parade with my Mutt and just after passing the
announcers booth the thing just quits. Not a sputter or gasp, just dead.
Temperature is about 100 or a little more. Run time up to point of failure
was less than an hour and average speed was of course, real slow.

I have electronic ignition. Also, and I really hate to admit this, but I
still have the keyed ignition switch that was on the thing when I got it.
It also has a hidden kill switch to cut down on theft. I do own an original
master switch, just never got around to straightening out the wire mess from
previous users.

This failure was last Saturday evening. I finally got time to look at it
today and when I tried starting it before working on it, yes an optimist to
the end, the thing fired up!

It has been suggested to me that the ignition switch is actually an old 12
volt switch and possibly this is heating up and loosing contact. Other
speculation is of course targeting the electronic ignition as well as the
coil. I had always believed that the electronic ignition ran great until it
quit and then that was it, no second chance or resurrections, just junk.

Does anybody have any ideas what to check out first.

Now the rest of this is just pure whining........before the parade a low
tree limb actually reached out and smacked my antenna! Tore the eye
protector off and flung it to parts unknown. After the parade and my fellow
club members drove back to rescue me I am being towed and yet another tree
(I smell a conspiracy) snagged my brand new American flag off the antenna
and refused to release it. Probably one of those Chinese elms...........
