Axle Question

Removed rear axle shaft from my (WC-1)1/2 ton to redo the brakes.. marked
both axle and Hub.. Now I cannot get the axle to reseat in the diff....This
is the long one the short one went right in with no problem. Anyone have a
suggestion how to work with this or do I now need to take the differential
apart to realign the tines on the axle shaft.
