I believe this is a replacement motor. I had a M-38-A1 some years ago
with a similar 4LR Sn.#. The fellow I got it from said he bought the motor
from Sears and put it in.
A Willys knowledgeable friend told me the Sn.# prefix stood for ;
4 = 4 cylinder motor
L = "L" head (flathead)
R = replacement motor
