This is another good idea, and I took it a little further.

I made my MP and national markings on magnetic sheet and stick them on
as I wish. Even the large white stars on my M35 doors and the little
ones on the bumpers are magnetic. Nobody has figured it out yet and
stolen them.

The legal sign to indicate a slow-moving vehicle is mounted on farming
equipment that goes on the road...it is the blaze orange equilateral
triangle with the red reflective strips on the 3 edges.

I made one out of magnetic sheet and I slap it on the back door of the
M1007 when I tow it. If you have a large panel of ferrous metal on
the back of your HMV, and there isn't too thick a layer of Bondo, this
magnetic sheet works well. When you don't need it, stick it on some
handy steel panel INSIDE your HMV for storage.
