Fw: [MV] Lights and Sirens on MVs (An unpopular view)

Actually, that is an issue in PA. Some Amish, orthodox I guess, see that
orange triangle as an adornment not allowed by their religion and refuse to
use it. Of course they have been cited for the violation by officers. (no
doubt after the officer considered the significant amount of paper that
would be created by a horse and buggy getting run over....) I believe there
is a bill still pending to allow the Amish to use a sufficient amount of
gray scotchlight instead of the orange sign.
Another bill is going to make the display of red, red and blue, or blue
a more serious offense. It will even create regulation on the display by
police officers using unmarked cars. Several incidents of yo-yos with no
authority pretending to be a police officer and stopping women on lonely
stretches of highway has create the climate for the law change to increase
the penalties.
An this may be a flame attractive comment but: Why is standing up for
your rights now have to be equated with being rude and uncivilized to a
police officer trying to do his job. I believe Henry David Thoreau, the
father of civil disobedience, never said anything about a need to be rude
and disrespectful. I know there are officers out there that can be rude and
downright insulting, but I remember from kindergarten that two wrongs don't
make a right. Right or wrong being a jerk to a police officer won't help you
cause.

Just my thoughts,

Rick
