Hi Ryan,

This would appear, on the surface, to be a good idea. However, it
establishes a precedent that might bite us on the butt later on. From
the little I know this is one of the big problems the German Bundeswehr
has been facing since the end of the Cold War. One of my German friends
described the German Army as a bunch of truck drivers and medical
workers. Since the US Armed Forces are volunteer, I think they should
take a VERY hard line with people trying to squirm out of their
obligations. I also think they should take a VERY hard line with
recruiters which tell white lies and omit certain critical pieces of
information just so they can make their quotas. It is in the best
national interests of the US to have only wide eyed and fully comitted
people serving our nation.
