You are correct...the ground anchors are "supposed" to be stored on the deck,
along with the boom jacks.
However, as you pointed out, these really crowd the deck, so troops devised
various storage points.
My M-62 has storage for both of these made. A poor picture can be seen at:

I can take better photos of storage rack this weekend if you like, let me
know. Can also take measurements, but the boom on a M62 is narrower than the
boom on any of the later wreckers.
