Thanks very much for this lead... is there any chance you could ask your
"someone" where on base they were, and whether they were inside or outside? Was
your friend actually on base when he saw them, or were they visible from
outside?

I have several contacts in the area who may be able to get some more info if
they know where to look and whom to ask.

I remain sceptical that these ARE indeed WW2 carriers (of any sort), as the U.S.
Army never used them, but stranger things have been found in stranger places!
