I agree with G.R.Baker. When I restored my 1945 MB, back in 92-93, I patterned
the markings after the *Jeep my father-in-law drove in WWII. After stenciling
the hood, I meticulously used paint thinner to remove over spray. When my
father-in-law took a walk around the MB, me standing there with my chest
stuck out and proud as ever, he commented "Beautiful Jeep, Joe, but we never
had anything this nice when I was in the army." Later on I observed some
unrestored mil-vehicles and I then
I realized my error in being so perfect on the restoration.
Now, when somebody comments about the over spray on the tires from when I
paint wheels, I just walk 'em over to an unrestored mil-veh and let them see
for
themselves the over spray, runs and brushed on paint jobs.
