After repair, I install the repaired wheel/tire on the vehicle and air it up.
If the ring comes off, it will be blown into the other tire (as the rings are
facing each other on the rear), or into the fenderwell on the front tires.
My post was a bit quick, and I as David says, this is a can be a dangerous
task. I suppose it is simple to me as it is part of my job as a maintenance
and repairman.
If you want to do tire repair yourself, just be prepared.
