Hemm. Are you saying that the gear mechanism actually senses the speed that
the front end is turning at, and has some kind of "intelligence" to try and
match it to the rear axles? I would have thought that when you shift to
front drive the gears you bring on line are just becoming a part of the
already powered axles without any "smarts" involved. How does the transfer
case "know" whether you are going downhill (no resistance on the gears) or
going uphill when the shafts are just turning freely without actually
turning a wheel (hubs are unlocked) ????
