Speaking of compressed air and M38A1s, I put a 2-1/2 gallon air tank (custom
ASME) tucked in "A" part of the back frame and installed an electric air
compressor under the hood (there are several mil-spec electric air
compressors out there). Although it draws a fair bit of current at full
pressure, it fills the tank in about 2 to 3 minutes to 110 psi and has
plenty of air for airing tires and such, and will power an impact wrench
just fine. I haven't tried an angle die grinder yet, but expect it will
only work for intermittent volleys of cutting (the tank is too small and the
pump is low cfm), but then again, I don't think the pump in this case is
made for production work. However, I think it works pretty damn nice.
