Russell,
I have looked at your photo, and have some thoughts......
In the mid 1950's, the Detroit Arsenal built the XM381, which was a 2 ton
4x4. This is covered in the Secret Ordnance Tank Automotive Command
Development Manual. It was Ordnance Project TT3-812.
However, due to numerous discrepancies in between the govt. specs and what
was sent to you, I think the truck for sale is probably someone's homemade
copy.
The XM381 had a wheel well type bed, this one has a drop side bed.
The XM381 did not have a winch, this one does.
The XM381 was powered by the Reo OA-331 gas engine, this one is powered by a
LDS-465.
By the military's standards, the radiator available in this chassis is not
adequate to cool a LDS-465, which is why deuces have LDT-465 engines.
Hope this helps,
David Doyle
