If I am not mistaken the motor# and SN should match if the motor in
original.
It is above the water pump on the front top of the block, and on mine darn
hard to read.
There should also be a plate on the front of the wheel well behind the
passenger seat, role the seat forward and it should be obvious (if it is
still there).

I have been looking at a couple of M-38's but the data plate on the
dash is gone. Where else can I find the serial number? Is there any
particular item that is difficult to replace or restore that I should
look for? I plan on a frame up resto but don't want to get stuck
looking for a part that can't be found.
