just go to a real auction sometime and watch. as the price goes up, the
auctioneer will normally jump the increment up. then when bidding slows down
he
will drop the increment very low to get that last couple of dollars out of
the
last bidders.
i have seen lots go at mechanicsburg to 12,00.00 by 100.00 then, 500.00, then
1000.00 increments. but the finish was down to 20.00 or 25.00 or 50.00
increments. that is an option that a live auctioneer can use.
since the web can not "read" the crowd or the bidders i think the best way
is to
keep the increments very low and let the computer do the bidding. >>
1.00 increments are good.
I never bid in even numbers. It only takes a buck to win. And like many have
said, you are already charging a buyers premium.
