M38 Parking Brake

On the parking brake that attaches to the back of the transfercase, do the
springs that hold the brake shoes on (retraction springs) go behind the tabs
or on top of the tabs (the tabs are by the adjusting screws and by the
actuator arm. The shoes want to flop out when the springs are on top of the
tabs. The previous owner gutted the parking brake so I don't have much to go
on besides the parts manual.
