Welcome back!

That has been a much discussed subject on the Dodge Power Wagon Forum in the past as well. I know that the lead additive provided lubrication for the valves.

I am sure there are others (Cougarjack comes to mind) that can give us a very detailed technical explanation of lead additives and its effect on flathead engines.

This thread would apply to most other flathead engines as well.
