Hello
good thing about M37parts, you can find almost anything you want. First
off, these vehicles go 45 mph, the brakes are not the greatest, but ok.
There were 2 models of trucks made, 1950-54 M37. Then 1958-68
The M37b1. Main difference is little better syncros in the tranny, better
wiring.
The trucks look basically the same. Common rust spots are cab corners,
inside tool box, front fenders under headlights, windshield frame. Parts
that seem
to be hard to find include: good tailgate, troopseat brackets and box posts,
gas
tanks. A lot of these truck were converted to radio trucks. This was usually
unmodified by Fire dept. Military would upgrade to 100 amp generator (4
grove
pulley on engine) bigger voltage regulator, and rectifier on grill.
My truck a 1951 was converted back, but torch cut hole for
rectifier wiring beside radiator still present and fan shroud cut to make
room for
4 belts on pulleys. Expensive not normally seem items wire harness around
$450,
most of the rubber seals are expensive when added up. Most trucks need
brakes
rebuilt and probably new wheel cylinders. If left outside without top
the windshield frame will fill with water and rust bottom. These are a very
desired
vehicle and prices seem a little high for most. 4 Wheeling people seem to
like them.
There are disc brake conversions, motor conversions, lots more.Winch adds
about
$750 to $1000 to vehicle. Good running vehicle ok condition $2500 to $4500.
Restored vehicle $6500 to $9000 and up. There are a lot of M37's out there,
so
be patient for one that meets your project skills. Quite a few parts trucks
around.
I paid $750 for mine in 98. rust free, had been sitting in shed for 3 years.
Painted red.
Might want to go to M37 forum and read some info at:
