David and All:
I wonder if the majority of the people who are having problems
unsubscribing from the list have changed email addresses ( or their work
system has changed email addresses) and the old address is forwarding email
to their new address?
Arthur's program requires a two step process that precludes smart asses
from unsubscribing or changing other list members accounts. When you first
joined the list, you got a 'Confirm Request' message with a number in it.
This number is YOUR Personal Identification Number that Arthur uses to
identify YOU and your account and confirm correspondence with you as YOU.
Always KEEP THIS TYPE OF MESSAGE.
It contains your get out of jail card, so to speak. With this number,
you can set up an Alternate Identity on any machine running Outlook Express,
and during setup, put your 'old' problem email address in the 'FROM' box and
whatever in the 'Reply to' box.
Since you already have the Confirm number (if you kept it), send a
message to mil-veh-unsubscribe@mil-veh.org and put the Confirm ( or PIN)
number in the 'Subject' line and send it using your alternate (old) ID. You
are now 'OFF' the list, since as far as Arthur's system is concerned, you
sent a message from where it expects to see you send it from, and you
supplied the PIN only YOU would know, since it was originally sent to a
place only Arthur's system would know. Challenge /Password.
If you don't have the 'Confirm Request' ID number sent when you
subscribed at the old address, well, I think you (and us) are screwed until
you can get Arthur's attention.
Give it a try.... Please?
Ronzo
