I just picked up a 1943 M5 Generator with the following info on the tag;
Unit A.C. Gasoline
Electric Generating M5
3.0 K.V.A. 125 volts 3 phase 60 cycle
Gross Weight 816 lb. No. 45821 ACR
Minneapolis Moline Power Implement Company 1943
It was olive drab originally. Currently looks like a brush painted Navy Gray.
It's 4 foot
long, 30" high, sits on two rails. Has a 4 cylinder Hercules engine, which is
free and looks complete except for the radiator cap. It may run with some new
fuel and a prayer. There is a tag on one skid rail end with the number 1984
on it. May be overhaul date or serial number.
Could anyone tell me what were these used for?
Where they mounted on trailers? My MV books do not show generators.
Parts sources? I'm missing a cover over the battery storage compartment and
would like a manual for it to begin with.
Are there any photos of these on the web?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim Maier
