Recently found 2 jeeps, plan to get both and build one. I'd like to know
what you jeep guys think I should offer.
# 1 -- Willys, MB ( I think, has the metal wrought iron grill), body very
bad. Frame was cut to install V-8. Sitting in woods for several years. The
only thing good about this one is the drive train (transmission, transferee
case, drive shafts and differentials). And assorted other parts (?????). I'm
yet to find out who it belongs to.
#2 -- Ford GPW, overall good body (data plates intact, 3 brass, very good
condition), original engine (runs, needs starter), Has Willys windshield.
Original trans. and transfer case. Bad points--- has roll bar and braces
welded to windshield and body, not original fuel tank, not original seats,
and differentials from pickup truck (wheels stick out way past the fenders).
Would this one be worth $500, or more. I figure the body alone might be
worth that. (???)
Don't know for sure if I can get either. But did hear that the GPW was
recently advertised for $350, and the guy decided not to sell.
