Stone,
1st question, No.
2nd, 2 types of split, auto (sprag) and air controlled.
3rd (in concept) if you move much off of stock on one of these you just as
well go buy a ford pickup to play with.
They are not designed to do 70 mph, nor stop on a dime if they do end up at
that speed.
Great trucks for hauling cargo at "Tank" speed, bad trucks in the "Look I
got a hot truck" group 9generaly a good way to get you or someone else
killed).
Want to pull a typical "jacked up offroad wannabe slickpaint bigfoot"
sideways up hill between 2 trees, slowly?
Buy a stock M35A2.
Want to die and take a bunch of innocents with you, Hop up a n M35A2, drive
it at 70 MPH and blow a tire on the steering axel.

Subject: [MVlist] 6x6 drivetrain questions
Hello,
I am interested in buying a 2.5, maybe 5 ton and have some questions
regarding the drivetrain.
First and easiest, is it correct there are two driveshafts exiting
the rear of the t/case, one for each rear axle?
Also, is this t/case a full lock style or does it have the
differential inside to split the power between front and rear, as did
the old full time 4x4 GM trucks? If so, does it have a "lock" as
well as the open mode?
Has anyone had one of these t/cases apart or know if it has a pump
inside? Straight cut gears? My reason for this question is that I
wonder if its feasible to run one of these backwards as an overdrive
unit for the rear axle(s) only/front disconnected. I would like to
have the off road capabilities as these beasts come supplied though
it would be nice to cut down the rpm's when cruising down the road,
as I would likely be putting some miles on it. Maybe, with locking
hubs in the front or pulling the drive flanges, along with reducing
the rpm's to something more reasonable, these things could be made to
get a little better mileage? I found one site that showed the
military's fuel consumption rating at 5-6 mpg at full GVW, though
they already assumed 1800 rpm.
Any info would be appreciated.
