I've had a similar experience with a reverser mainshaft bearing on a John
Deer 350 Dozer. after an eight week wait, The mechanic on the job site said
the bearing came in wrong. Well I took a look and it looked familiar. I
worked on a lot of late 60's/70's cars. I took the bearing down to the local
A/part store and cross-referenced it. it turned out to be the inner front
wheel bearing to a 1970-75 Chevy Caprice.
and it fit perfect.

Take the cups and seals back to napa. I have looked through a
large book that they had with pictures and sizes of everything that
they have. I just found a match, and it was perfect. As far as
bearings and seals go, there is usually always some kind of
number on them that can be used to get replacements. If there is
no number, etc. they can be measured and matched.
