Hi Bob...

If you are in the situation I am, and your vehicle has 1" shackle pin
holes but your military towbar has only the common 3/4" tow adapters
and pins but is missing the forged steel 1" adapters, here's a
solution:

My company sells stainless steel reducer bushings which slip in the
shackle mount hole and accept the smaller pin. Since they're made of
precision seamless 304 stainless steel cylinder stock, they won't rust
or corrode, and they have no split or seam for smooth pivoting action.

To use these bushings, you simply pull off your shackles and shackle
pins from your vehicle, slip the bushings into the shackle mount holes
on your vehicle, then align the tow adapters with the holes and slide
the pins through the adapter holes and through the center of the
bushings and secure the pin.

Our bushings are designed for towing CUCVs with a medium towbar
equipped with 1" adapters, so the bushings which are exactly 1.5" long
should work with any military vehicle with 3/4" shackle pins. You can
verify this by measuring the inside dimensions of your shackle...if it
is 1.5" and the pin hole is 1" in diameter, and you're towing with a
medium towbar, these adapters are for you!

These bushings will probably work on light and heavy towbars too but I
have not tested them on those towbars.

I sell these bushings for $20 per pair, plus $3.50 for shipping.
Contact me off list if you want to buy them.

I routinely tow my M1007 with my M35 hundreds of miles a month with
this arrangement and the bushings are barely worn at all even after
thousands of miles of towing. They show no evidence of compression or
other wear. If you're concerned about wear, you can spray a little
WD40 on the bushings before assembly.

Good luck!
