Mil-Spec Generator, 3 KW, 4 cly., Chrysler engine.
Appreciate the helpful comments on the generator flooding problem and tried
your advice.
I took the carb off and cleaned it up, wasn't too bad, but whatever it was
that caused it too drip gas in mass quanities, it was cured. But, it still
has an adjustment problem and I have isolated it to two areas.
The main one is the needle value that is turned at the float bowl. It has a
T end and twists into the main gas flow tube. It's a weird set up... never
seen a needle valve go thru the side of the float bowl before, seen them on
the bottom, never the side..anyway....
Got it running again but it was chugging hard, way too much rich mixture,
when I turned that needle valve inward, which should be reducing gas flow, it
smoothed out and ran great for about 10 seconds, then it started doing it
again, loading up and slowing down so I backed the needle valve out, got
worse and moved it back in, as I did it got better and I thought ah-ha, this
is it!!! But, in mid (ah)-ha it started chugging hard again and died despite
my attempts to tweek the need valve back and forther. It would not start
again...flooded. I have a feeling I am dealing with two problems that are
conflicting each other... the adjustment on the governor and this needle
valve setting. Any ideas of how set each of them properly? Manual offers no
guidance that I could find.
Thanks ... Jack
