Hi Bill. Do you know how your truck is registered? I don't mind
getting a class B or A license, but paying road taxes as tho I were
hauling for a living is something else. $60 seems high for an historic
vehicle... but if it's just considered an old truck like my 53 3/4 ton
then the registration seems about right..
Which brings up another subject I've seen mention of only a few times in
the forum: insurance. I asked my agent about it last year and she
couldln't find the words. Literally. Are there specialty carriers in Ca
for such trucks?
> Also I see you are talking about shipping costs, no offense, but why??
Well, the posts I've read the past year or so make me feel Joe Young is
honest, and puts out a good product. I'm 20+ years past my time as a
mechanic, and even then wasn't a full time mechanic so I was trying to
start out with as few problems as possible. You've read about people
bidding on a truck and showing up to find it was being held together by
bailing wire, haven't you? I have a house that was like that so wanted
to avoid another 'project' along those lines <g>
> Are you a member of the Military Vehicle Collectors of CA?
Not yet. I wanted to see if the bug was just another whim or not. But
the thought of working on a deuce still makes me smile, so I guess I've
been bitten.
Say: another question if I may? What is the law here in Ca on carrying
people in the bed of the truck? Presuming I could get a 'normal' deuce
and that it had troop seats.

That sounds good. Where do I look into the Mil Veh association of Ca?
And does membership in it also make one a member of the national
organization?
thanks
Paul
