With a tuba and a blowhard politician you could easily launch munitions into
unsuspecting parade watchers. Besides, DOD my have saved some kid from
dreaded brass poisoning. I have long worried about terrorists getting hold
of govt. surplus band instruments and filling the air with bad (?) polka
music.
Seriously, when is all this madness going to stop? I can remember when the
Army used to demill hand tools (wrenches, pliers, hammers, etc.).
And it's not just DOD, I know (for a fact !)of new unused sheet and angle
aluminum, sheet and angle steel, being mangled and buried by U.S. Fish and
Wildlife. The sheets were punctured by a backhoe bucket and the other metal
was mashed and twisted by bulldozer. Total value was estimated at $40 - 50
K. This metal originally came from DOD.
Also 2 travel trailers, surplus from TVA ( another bunch of wasting
socialists), crushed and buried.
And last but not least, 4 - M274 , two would run and others needed minor
repairs, crushed and buried. Not only that they (USFWS) had to pay landfill
to bury most of this stuff. Yea, right!!!!!!
All done about 3 years ago, Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge.
Where does it stop? What can we do? I don't know ! Does anyone?
I got to take a powder.
