Hi List:
The wrecker just backed my shiny new M35W/WN into the hole I dug in the
back yard. He had to remove the prop shaft going from the .. transfer
case? to the gear housing (differential?) at the front of the first rear
axle. ( bear with me: my TM CDs aren't here yet to allow me to look up the
proper names )
I found the one spline at the front of the shaft, which goes into a sleeve
coming from the rear of the transfer case? .. and there is one spline which
is wider/lower by far, which I presume is a key to align the two properly.
How do I get the prop shaft back into the sleeve? I thought about using a
small sledge hammer on the other end of the shaft... Is there a trick to it?
If material, the truck was built in late 1952 by REO. Gas engine, 6X6,
front winch, and a bed and cab full of fire truck thingamaboppies. I don't
think that would affect the drive train, but... ?
Thanks!
Paul
