I'd be really surprised if a 1986 unit wasn't equipped with Silicone brake fluid from the start.
My 62 IHC dump was converted to silicone long ago.
I'd purge out all of the fluid you can, flush it with alcohol and then blow it out with air.
Then put in Dot 5 or Military silicone brake fluid (BFS?) and see what happens. If you have a master cylinder leak, it will be pretty obvious as it will drip out
the back or you will have a very poor brake pedal feel. (IE it will never get firm)
Dot 5 is silicone brake fluid.
Good Luck,
Dave
