JUST AS ANY MOTOR VEHICLE, TOP SPEED IS A FUNCTION OF DESIRED DRIVETRAIN LIFE....THE FASTER YOU GO, THE SOONER YOU BUY AN ENGINE, OR MORE. REALISTICALLY THE average A2 WILL TOP OUT ABOUT 61-62.
> 2; top cruising speed 49-55 (supposedly at 1900 rpm) ?
MOST SEEM HAPPIEST AROUND 50-52, REMOVE YOUR HEARING PROTECTION AND LISTEN TO THE ENGINE.

BY A NEW PICKUP OFF THE DEALERS LOT. OR LEAVE EARLIER. OR SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. NO SLAM TO A.P. BLOOM, BUT if YOU ARE BUYING THIS AS A TOY RATHER THAN TO WORK WITH, UNLESS YOU HAVE A LOT OF MONEY TO TOSS AWAY, LOCKOUTS, RADIALS, POWER STEERING ARE AWFULLY EXPENSIVE ADDITIONS....THINK ABOUT IT IN TERMS OF DOLLARS PER ANNUAL MILE. JUST LEAVE EARLIER, AND LEAVE THE WRENCHES IN THE TOOL BOX. AND WE WON'T GET INTO A DISCUSSION ABOUT BRAKING DISTANCE OR HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS.

I SUSPECT HERCULES AND CONTINENTAL KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS THAN LOCAL GUY, USE WHAT THEY RECOMMEND. (SEE LO)

YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS, BUT THEY WERE FIRST TESTED IN JUNE OF 1952...AND THEY FAILED, NOT REAL SURE WHY THAT WAS FORGOTTEN ABOUT RECENTLY.

BUY IT ON THE TRUCK, FAILING THAT, KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN ON BACKROADS FOR JUNKER TRUCKS.

NOPE....SPECIFIACALLY WHAT IMPROVEMENT WOULD YOU HOPE TO GET?
BETTER STOPPIMG? NOPE
LONGER BRAKE FLUID LIFE? WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU CHANGED THE BRAKE FLUID IN YOUR DAILY DRIVER?
FACT....YOU CAN'T KEEP MOISTURE OUT OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM (AFTER ALL, IT IS VENTED TO THE ATMOSPHERE).
FACT, SILICON WON'T MIX WITH WATER, SO YOU WILL HAVE POOLS OF WATER IN BRAKE SYSTEM....
HOW IS THIS BETTER THAN DOT 3?
ALL THIS BEING SAID......WHATEVER FLUIDS WERE IN MY TRUCKS WHEN UNCLE SAM HAD THEM, IS WHAT I KEEP USING. SIMPLY NOT WORTH THE EFFORT TO ME TO CHANGE BRAKE FLUIDS (EITHER WAY), AND CHANGING 22 QUARTS OF OIL IS NO CAKEWALK EITHER...I DO IT WHEN I NEED IT, NOT JUST TO PASS TIME. A NUMBER OF FOLKS ON THIS LIST HAVE SEEN, HEARD AND FELT MY SCRAP IRON, AND I THINK WILL ATTEST THAT THEY RUN AS GOOD AS ANY.
