what to put in the steering house?

Hello list,

The steering house (ROSS T12) of my M38A1 has no lubricating substance
anymore. The manuals ony tell me to 'fill it' and give no indication of with
what. Should I fill it with the hypoid oil I use in the gearboxes and
differentials or is it better to pump it full of grease? Should I fill it to
filler plug level?
Please help.
