I have a similar unit called an E3, which was built by Merritt and Keefe in
1944. The data plate is marked US Army Corps of Engineers, and it is 3
phase 60 cycle 110 to 120V. I think all of these items were built for
specific purposes. There is even an Indian Motorcycle built generator,
using the 841 shaft drive motor, which was used to power a portable
navigation station (similar to LORAN). This is rather rare, and if anybody
finds one available, I'd want to purchase it.

I have a manual for a WWII airfield light set which lists a Homelite
generator as the power source. It is a 1.5 KW generator that weighed 200
lbs (including case and all accessories). I recommend that you peruse any
manuals you find that pertain to types of WWII electrical equipment or
equipment sets and installations. Your's may have powered a radar set, a
field optical shop, or a field light set etc.

Sounds like a good find. Mine came out of the University of Ohio physical
plant, and has 22 original hours on the engine, plus the original test
papers in the manual pouch.
$200 at a farm show.

I will post digital photos if anybody is interested.
