I know it isn't original, but I'd use 100% silicone rubber caulk. The stuff will easily last for 20 years. I caulked the body to the door hinges around the back of
a 78 chevy van in 1981 with the stuff. I still have the van and the caulk is still pliable and still stucks great. Looks like I put it on yesterday. The rest of the
van looks like hell, but at least the caulk looks good! Hint - don't try to paint over the stuff it doesn't work. Paint first - caulk last.
