I used a Hobart Welder engine as a Willys L134 engine for my first GPW.
(Sacrilege, but the Ford block had been shaved too low by some Monkey)
You take off the two belt pulley (send it to a GPA owner, as they have to
"make" these...!!!!!...)
Change out the manifold (too small of intake ports there, won't go 45mph )
and grind down the two extra bolt flanges on the rear bell housing mount
area (they cover the timing inspection marks on the Jeep bellhousing) Along
with using your old flywheel, and you will end up with a GOOD core engine.
I think they even had hardened valves, as they were set up to run at around
1700 RPM or so all day long. (You remove the governor system and swap in
your old manifold and carb) And the Starter/ Flywheel is different.
Basically your looking at a short block which can fit a MB/GPW (CJ too) with
a little effort.
Only found them in Hobart though, not sure about other gen sets/welders
A welderset I have in the side yard (Hobart, 60's) has the dual 110/115 DC
outlet your describing. Typical of welders. (Does yours have a large round
control wheel? Welder)

Here in Tidewater Virginia, there actually is a Degaussing pier, but the
electricity required for it comes from the mainland I'm certain. It sits in
the middle of the bay away from everything, and the ships pass through it
like a screw driver through a magnet, degaussing the ship like he said, so
mines, etc. would not be attracted to it (I suppose there are marine animals
that are attracted too.) I wonder what happens to the crews gear as it
passes through that large magnetic field.....

Reminder: Virginia War Museum Show in three weeks 6-8th Sept (yes, I got
the Month right this time......)
We expect over 21 Vehicles (I have a LOT of shuttling to do to get my stuff
there) Around 60 vendors (militaria, not vehicle dealers but I wish they
would come....sigh)
Museum is free, reenactors of most every War America has fought in. Deuces,
MUTTs, GPW's, MB's, (Tandem pull of 57mm AT gun...) Ferret, Dodges, German
Halftrack rides, Artillery pieces.
Auction, Friday and Saturday evenings at 6PM, good stuff had cheap
(everyone heads out to dinner ;o) )

Come on by if you can. I'll have the TOW Missile Jeep out. (PS: Still
seeking TOW missile parts and an M8 Chem alarm if anyone has a lead...)
