Be nice now.
I too don't think it is such a good idea (I am an electrician). However
you did make the sweeping statement "No power company that I am aware
of has been able to use the earth itself as a circuit leg,
since the earth's resistance is way too high for efficient
transmission". So I was just letting you know that it is in wide
spread use. Personally, I dislike the whole concept of earthing as I
have seen it cause more trouble than it saves. It, like re-wireable
fuses are dinosaur engineering left over from the Edison era.
However, back to MVs.
Does anyone know where I can get some M17 periscopes that aren't
broken and/or suffering from delamination and/or yellowing? There are
plenty of people out there peddling US surplus ones that are only fit
for the rubbish bin. I want some decent ones.
Regards
Doug
