M38 rear pto

I have a 1951 M38 (Willys 1/4 ton jeep). It came with a rear pto (power take
off).
I cannot get military exhaust to work with the pto. I had been told that
some M38's
had a rear pto for a signal corps generator, but I can't find anyone to
confirm this. I know the
Cj2a civilian jeep had a rear pto to use on farm equipment. Another question
I have
is the propeller shaft for the pto has a square end not a spline. Does
anyone have a
manual for this or even have one on their M38.
